Education
The MGA's mission statement includes education as a way for the association
to improve the quality of life for all people affected by MG. We work to
educate MG patients and caregivers, as well as the general public.
New Member Packets - The MGA distributes packets to any new
members (regardless of how long they have had MG) or others interested in
learning more about MG. The packets include recent newsletters,
information on exercise, emotional support, and referral services, MG ID
cards, as well as brochures on treatments, Social Security Disability, medical
alert jewelry, and other topics.
Brochures - We have a variety of free informational brochures available at
our office. These cover medications, treatment, emergency management of
MG, and other various topics. Please contact the MGA office if you would
like any brochures or other information.
Nurse's Conference - The MGA holds a nurse's conference to educate
Kansas City area nurses on the various aspects of MG and caring for patients
with MG. Area physicians speak on a range of topics and Contact
Hours/CEUs are provided. The 2008 Nursing Conference: Caring for the
Myasthenia Gravis Patient will be held Thursday, July 31st from 4-7 p.m. at
North Kansas City Hospital. Please contact the MGA office for more
information.
