What is the MGA?
Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune, neuromuscular disease which is
manageable through various treatments, but is not curable.
The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Kansas City is a nonprofit, United Way
agency that offers a variety of services to MG patients and their caregivers.
The MGA works with several neurologists in the greater Kansas City area to
provide clinical diagnosis and treatments. We also provide education and
advocacy, patient support group meetings, and a quarterly newsletter.
Our programs and clinical support are sustained through fundraisers and
membership drives and with the help of our volunteers.
The MGA is also the Kansas City Chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis
Foundation of America, Inc.

KANSAS CITY CHAPTER
| ~ Save the Date for the MGA 2008 Annual Meeting! Saturday, November 22, 2008 Guest Speaker: Wilma Koopman, RN, MSc.N CNN(C) Wilma is a nurse practitioner in an acute care hospital in London, Ontario, providing medical services to both hospitalized & ambulatory care individuals & families with neuromuscular diseases since 1981. Wilma has collaborated on multiple research studies in MG including swallowing problems & sleep apnea. She has authored many articles on neuroscience nursing including MS, GBS, & MG. Wilma lectures extensively on neuromuscular diseases locally, nationally and internationally. Her affiliations are many. She is an advocate for patients & families with neuromuscular diseases; particularly MG. She is the chair of MGFA’s Nurse’s Advisory Board. More details to come! |
