Our program coordinators are committed to engaging with MG patients, their families, and their care teams every day at the MGA. Whether someone has been recently diagnosed with MG or has been managing this autoimmune disorder for the majority of their life, our program coordinators work diligently to ensure people with Myasthenia Gravis are supported. Both Tanya and Meridith take a collaborative approach in clinic, working directly with the neurology teams and patients to promote comprehensive care. Ultimately, the role of the program coordinator is to serve as another tool in an MG patient's toolbox, encouraging patients to approach their MG holistically and assist in the management of living with this chronic disease.

In January 2020, the MGA began a partnership with SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in collaboration with Dr. Ghazala Hayat and Dr. Jafar Kafaie, experts in the field of neurology and more specifically, neuromuscular disease. The two physicians see MG patients on Tuesdays, followed by a visit from Meridith O'Connor, St. Louis Program Coordinator. Meridith is currently working on building this program in hopes to later expand our clinic services in the pediatric population with Dr. Kafaie at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Also a Myasthenia Gravis patient, Meridith is able to connect with patients on a unique level to provide resources and support to those in need.

St. Luke's Medical Center in Kansas City is run by Dr. Michael Schwartzman of St. Luke’s Health System. As a doctor of osteopathic medicine, Dr. Schwartzman is a neurologist who takes a whole-person approach when treating his patients. Those who attended clinic in the past had the privilege of meeting Diana Wilmoth, clinic volunteer coordinator for our organization. Diana is a registered nurse and also living with MG; she assisted in the operations of this clinic for over 20 years, however, recently retired this past year. The clinic meets every second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of the month and is now run by Tanya Renner, our Kansas City Program Coordinator.
Information regarding our Young Friends Groups will be communicated through email and social media.
